Pharmacy and Medically Underserved Areas Enhancement Act Reintroduced at US Senate

On Thursday, January 12, 2017, the Pharmacy and Medically Underserved Areas Enhancement Act was reintroduced in the US Senate. Enactment of the legislation will allow state-licensed pharmacists in medically underserved communities eligible for reimbursement as health care providers for certain services under the Medicare program. Passage of this legislation will grant pharmacists greater federal recognition as members of the health care team. Thanks to your efforts, we ended 2016 with 296 co-sponsors in the House and 51 in the Senate.

Stay tuned for future emails that will let you know when it’s time to take action. Your continued activism is critical in providing the best opportunities and standards for the pharmacy profession. CSHP will continue to provide up-to-date information regarding this legislation.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to email CSHP at advocacy@cshp.org or call CSHP's office at 916-447-1033.
