SCSHP: Free 1-Year Membership for New Practitioners:
New practitioners are pharmacist members in their first year of practice after pharmacy school. Membership in CSHP during pharmacy school is extremely high but often members are lost in the transition from student to regional chapters. For example, the USC pharmacy student chapter has the largest number of members of all the local chapters with over 380 members. SCSHP has a close working relationship with the USC student chapter but when the fourth year students graduate, very few become pharmacist members intheir local chapter. In order to encourage new practitioner membership, SCSHP offers new practitioner pharmacistsfree membership for their first year as a new practitionerin exchange for an appointment on the SCSHP Executive Board asthe New Practitioner Liaison. The position is for one year, requires attendance atboard meetings, andhelps SCSHP address the particular needs of new practitioner pharmacist members. |
