How to Meet the Pharmaceutical Needs of the Underserved: What can YOU do for YOUR Patients? Drug Cost-Savings Strategies Faculty and Moderators Marilyn Stebbins, PharmD, Pharmacy Utilization Director at CHW Medical Foundation/Mercy Medical Group and Clinical Professor of Pharmacy at UCSF and Helene Lipton, PhD, Professor of Health Policy and Pharmacy at the UCSF School of Pharmacy have developed this initiative. This lecture will include four specially trained student pharmacists participating in a presentation designed to teach pharmacists and other health professional practitioners about cost-savings strategies that can be used to promote access to needed drugs among underserved patients of all ages, including Medicare patients. This is a creative and unique initiative designed to promote the pharmacist's role in inter-professional collaboration and patient advocacy as well as the roles and contributions of pharmacists to the health care team. More than 36 lectures have been given to more than 1,000 learners nationwide (including two presentations at Harvard last fall). This 2-hour knowledge-based program is accredited through ACPE and is appropriate for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. A brief evaluation and post-test will be required to receive credit.
