Sacramento, CA -The California Society of Health-System Pharmacists (CSHP) would like to thank the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) for submitting a letter of support for, CSHP's sponsored, Senate Bill 716., which would add a pharmacy technician to the California Board of Pharmacy.
Authored by Senator Dr. Ed Hernandez, the bill has passed the Senate Business and Professions Committee with an 8-0 vote and a 39-0 vote on the Senate Floor. SB 716 is set to be heard in the Assembly policy committees later this month.
ASHP recognizes "as pharmacy practice continues to evolve to recognize the direct patient care services of pharmacists, the role of pharmacy technicians in medication preparation and dispensing has become more prominent." Loriann DeMartini, PharmD, CSHP CEO extends her appreciation for their support; "pharmacy technicians provide an enormous benefit to the medication management system and we plan to bring them a voice to further the profession.
