Sacramento, CA - The California Society of Health-System Pharmacists (CSHP) has named Caroline M. Sierra, PharmD, BCPPS, as the recipient of the 2019 New Practitioner Achievement Award. This award is CSHP's highest honor for our newly practicing pharmacists and will be presented at CSHP's annual meeting, Seminar, being held October 17-20th at the Disneyland© Hotel in Anaheim, CA.
Dr. Sierra earned her doctor of pharmacy degree in 2014 from the University of New Mexico College of Pharmacy and completed her PGY-1 and PGY-2 at the Loma Linda University Medical Center. Dr. Sierra currently is an Assistant Professor, PGY-1 Residency Coordinator, and PGY-2 Residency Director at Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy.
A member since 2014, Dr. Sierra has volunteered many of her hours at both the local and state level of CSHP. To name some of her amazing accomplishments, in 2016, Dr. Sierra served as the New Practitioner Chair at her local chapter, the Inland Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ISHP) and for the past three years has served as the Continuing Education Chair. At ISHP, Dr. Sierra has organized multiple CE events (including two featuring new practitioners), Mock Western States presentations, several member-student mixers, and a forum for students and members (to interact and mingle alongside her past and continued duties), to just name a few.
At the state level, Dr. Sierra has served as a member on CSHP's New Practitioner Executive Committee (2017) and currently volunteers on CSHP's Editorial Advisory Board (2018-2019).
Outside of CSHP, Dr. Sierra continues to give back to her pharmacy community. Her passion for teaching and education are shown through her activity in researching and writing articles, having been publicized by the American Journal of Health-System Pharmacy and the Journal of Pediatric Pharmacology and Therapeutics. Alongside her publications, Dr. Sierra has served on the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) New Practitioner Forum Executive Committee (2017-2018) and helped establish the Summer Research Fellowship Award for students at Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy. Through her activities, many of her residents and pharmacy students have acknowledged that Dr. Sierra has their best interest in mind to be the best future pharmacists of tomorrow.
For her contributions, CSHP is proud to recognize Dr. Sierra as our New Practitioner Achievement Award recipient during the CSHP Seminar 2019 Awards Ceremony held on Saturday, October 19th in Anaheim, CA.
